Class 67 (Locobase 13475)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 32, p. 251. See Locobase 12731 for short history of the Eastman Gardiner company. Works number was 36504 in May 1911.

Although Eastman Gardiner specified that as many parts as possible be interchangeable with the 4-6-0 they had bought in 1908 (Locobase 13474), they clearly sought more power. Baldwin responded with a Twelve-wheeler that was of the largest to be built for use on a North American railroad. Compared to the 63, the 67 had a longer wheelbase that accommodated a larger boiler stuffed with more tubes. Moreover, this larger vessel served a larger cylinder volume which was supplied through slide valves actuated by outside radial valve gear. The L & TW had a main line with a maximum curve of 8 degrees, a max gradient of 1 3/4%, and rails weighing 60-lb/yard (30-kg/metre).
