Class O (Locobase 4400)

Data from ACL 12 - 1946 Locomotive Diagrams supplied in August 2013 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange collection. Alco's Richmond plant works numbers were 58858, 58860 and 58875-58878 (ACL road numbers 8006, 8008, 8000-8001 , 8005, and 8003, respectively.) Baldwin works numbers were 47369-47371, 48130 (8002, 8004, 8007, 8009).

857 2-10-0s were built by Baldwin and Alco (Richmond and Schenectady Works) for the Russian Government. When that empire was overthrown, some 200 more of the Russian order was diverted to railroads in the US, including the ACL.

Although all of the Russian decks were built to a common specification, several US railroads published later diagrams that reflected either updates or their own standards of measurements.

ACL sold the 8000-8001, 8004 in January 1942 to the Charleston & Western Carolina as their 403-405 (joining the three transferred from the Southern Railway to the C&WC almost three decades earlier). All of the others served throughout World War II before being scrapped in 1949-1952.
